Clarks Hill Lake Fishing Info

Clarks Hill is a reservoir that lies on the border between the two states of Georgia and South Carolina. Situated on the Savannah River basin, the lake is popularly called as Lake Storm Thurmond. It was commissioned by the United States Army Corps of Engineers between the years 1951 and 1952.

Clarks Hill Lake is a sprawling seventy-one thousand acres freshwater lake and is the third largest artificial lake on the Mississippi River. The lake is a favorite among anglers and water activity enthusiasts who are seen to make it here year after year.

Moreover, the sheer size of the lake houses a wide variety of fish. It is one of the few lakes that has tons of varieties of Bass. Some of the other varieties of fish that are sought-after by anglers include the Catfish, Bull Head, Trout, Crappie, Blue Gill and American Eels.

There is little doubt that with such a sprawling water body, it becomes difficult for anglers to keep track of the best fishing spot despite the fact that he/she is a regular to the Lake. As such, an angler may want to decipher the pattern of fishing in a small patch first. The use of a GPS fish finder / sounder will assist in locating quality fish. Another alternative is to ask for help from the local fishermen (and women) or look up the Clarks Hill Fishing Guide that is updated on a weekly basis.

It is a great idea to use a spinnerbait to determine where the Bass fish is concentrated the most so as to make it easy to have a good haul to take back home.

A lot of varieties of Bass including the Spotted Bass and the sought-after Striped Bass, in addition to the Shad and Herring spawn in the shallow parts of the Lake.
