With the recent post vote win for a jack trip over shooting a local mission by far. I set off early Saturday morning in search for some mangrove jacks, and well I guess you can say I found a couple ???? with a nice 52cm model to top it off!???? first 50+ cm for the season and a healthy big boy at that.
Unfortunately I bought my kayak as a factory second as it has a split in one of the seems that I patched and have had no issues with until now.. The patch has let go and the kayak was filling with water. So I packed it in for the day and chilled at camp ready to head back home again this morning.
Last time I was there I seen a couple of little bull sharks crushing the creeks at night, so I took some mullet slabs this trip to put out at night to see if I could catch a couple of sharks for fun. First bait I managed to hook one around the 1-1.4 meter mark that chewed me off at the bank, second bait landed a nice jack ???? followed up with three big runs and bust offs I believe they were bigger sharks. And just to top my day off I landed this beautiful big Queensland grouper. Queensland grouper are a protected species and should be treated with as much care as possible like I did with this big girl, I got down into the water and cradled her up for a very quick pic and measure coming in at 95cm a new pb for me ???? hook removal quick check to see if there are any more hooks in her then by the way she showered me in mud and water whilst I was trying to give her a nice release, she was very keen to get back into the structure she came from ????????
Now I’m home time to clean up and patch the kayak back up, could possibly head out for a fish tonight but will see how I go ????????
Hopefully you are all getting into some good fish as well
