Lake Cascade formerly called as the Cascade Reservoir is present in the western part of United States. It is exactly located in Valley County in Idaho on the North Fork of the famous Payette River. The Ice Fishing season in the winter is a great attraction for the anglers in this region. Anglers come with equipment like ice auger to help them drill holes; a ladle with slotted design to get the holes for fishing free from ice and other ice-fishing rods to catch fish. Yellow perch have been found more in number in this lake and created two records at the state and global level. They are greater than 10 inches in length and dominate the fish population in this lake. It is commonly called as the jumbo perch and excites the anglers throughout the world. The largest one to create a record was a 17-inch perch caught in 2018.
Bass, Brook Trout, Steelhead, Salmon and Tiger Muskie are other prominent fishes found in the lake for harvesting. Rainbow trout, smallmouth bass and kokanee are important types of fishes that are monitored around the year by the fishery staff to protect the game fish species to a considerable extent.
To do fishing in Lake Cascade the anglers have to be 14 years of age or older. They should have a valid fishing license. Residents who are younger in age, below 14 years are allowed to go fishing with an adult holding a legitimate license. A regular license is applicable for anglers to fishing with one rod. This is the same for game species and others as well. One can get the two-pole permit to use two rods simultaneously.
However, during the ice fishing season, the rules are certainly different. The lake water generally freezes and the anglers are allowed to use five rods in one go. Anglers should have the steelhead tag the salmon tag to target on the rainbow trout and salmon respectively. It is a must that they are hatchery fishes and caught legally in the right season. It is recommended to go through the fishing rules at least once before going on a fishing tour.

Lake Cascade is generally open throughout the year for anglers. However, the Fish and Game Commission sets the seasons to go on for fishing salmon fishes and steelhead fishes annually. For the Rainbow trout, the months of April and May are excellent to go on fishing in this region. The catch rate during the early spring season for trout is the highest. As the water gets hotter they move towards colder regions. Strike the right time for the fishing for your favorite fish and research well on the seasons, licenses and other permits before you start.
