Just got home and about to crawl into bed…..

How to sum up tonight? Well, it’s pure perseverance!!! Being father’s day I have been busy with my kids etc all day. However, I had planned a little time for myself to go out and enjoy a bit of “my” father’s day!

I managed to get down to the Gold Coast roughly 7 pm. I was really excited and expected it to be packed, but to my surprise, not many people went at all!! Why? Because it was blowing strong southerlies winds! Yep right in your face! Still, I tried my hardest. I’d set up camp right at the very end of the jetty as the tide was at it’s lowest. I was hoping for the fish to go on the bite with the incoming tide.

How wrong I was! Sat there from then all the way to 10 pm! Not a single bite! Although two nearby anglers managed two massive jewies! No one else did any good! No tailors…..zilch!!!

I was tempted to go home but the night was too young to call it quits ……not just yet! I went back out to the car and drove further south to the Pavillion. I’d remembered having some successful sessions here a few years ago; also on the incoming tide. I was hoping history will repeat itself!

After pulling on the waders and all I wandered onto the beach with minimum gear just to scout the waters. I’m alone…there is not another living soul in sight! Normally I’d never fish the beach alone but tonight I’ll just have to. Just not too deep in the water I told myself.

It was getting a little quiet and kinda eerie so I plugged in the headphone and started chatting with the gf while waiting for the fish to bite. It had only been literally 10mins when all of a sudden a massive fish took my bait! Guess what? I dropped it!! Why? I was on the bloody phone next pillie out and on again! But this time I managed to pull it in, a stonker greenback! I had however lost the star sinker so had to sprint back to the car to get the remaining gear…. let’s just say I’m really unfit and almost died doing it lol

I had rerigged up and sat there all the way until midnight. Not one more bite! I tried float, .to I tried roller ball sinkers. Nothing! Called it quits at midnight at least I got a nice one I comforted myself.

Until next time boys n girls!! What have I learnt? Perseverance pays off!! Lol
