The largemouth bass feeds on minnows on a large scale. They also eat perches, sunfishes and also the crayfishes. They are also seen to feed on very small aquatic birds, frogs and other insects.

A very young largemouth bass, two inches in size eat zooplanktons and the other insect larvae. They start becoming very active predators in a while. Adults tend to eat other small fishes including invertebrates. It is also seen that large bass fishes prey upon bass fishes which are very young and smaller in size. They also eat vegetation, especially plants in the shallow waters.
